Story
First.
Rowan is a Writer & Director, based in Sydney. Born in Perth, Rowan is the eldest of six children. After realising this fact he fled to Sydney and studied screenwriting at AFTRS in 2014.
After completing a Graduate Certificate in Screenwriting, he wrote and directed The Dinner Party (2019), followed by writing Peach (2020), which screened globally, including Frameline 44, Iris Prize, Atlanta Film Festival and won Best Comedy at Canberra Short Film Festival 25.
In 2018, he co-founded The Story Mill, a production company that specialises in films, documentaries & podcasts.
In 2021, he wrote and directed his debut feature film, Evicted! A Modern Romance, which won the Audience Choice Award at the Sydney Film Festival in 2022. He also produced numerous projects, including Inspire Me (2022), which was the recipient of the 2023 Screenability grant, premiered internationally at Slamdance Film Festival, and recently won Best Documentary at the Australia Independent Film Festival.
In 2023, he produced the absurdist thriller Sweet Juices (2023), recognised worldwide and earning accolades such as a Special Jury Mention at Fantasia, Best Picture in the Fantastic Short category at Austin's Fantastic Fest, and Best Midnight Madness at LA's Hollyshorts.
